AVOIDING HOUSE DUST MITES
House dust mites are microscopic creatures that nest in bedding, cushions, carpets, curtains, etc. They feed mainly on skin flakes and prefer to live in a warm, humid environment. It is logical that millions of creatures can be found in each bed. That is obviously difficult if you suffer from allergies.
How do you combat dust mites? Complete extermination is impossible but not necessary either. We'll give you a few tips to drastically reduce their amount:
- Light and air
These creatures do not like light, nor fresh and dry air. Therefore, leave your blanket open during the day. Open your curtains and open your window daily for as long as possible.
- Heating
Set the thermostat in your bedroom to approx. 18°.
- Washing
Curtains, bedding, cuddles, pillows ... wash them regularly at 60°. Cuddly toys can also be put in the freezer from time to time. Curtains can be replaced by shutters.
- Pets
Do not allow pets in the bedroom. House dust mites like to nest in their fur.
- No plants
Plants and even books should be avoided in the bedroom because they attract dust.
DOWN AND ALLERGIES
In case of allergies, you certainly don't have to avoid duvets and pillows, quite the contrary. High quality down like Fja-Oeyen doesn't give house dust mites a chance. Thanks to the optimal air circulation inside the duvet, the down stays dry.
In addition, the lining of our duvets is woven so tightly that the creatures cannot penetrate it. Synthetic blankets simply do not have the same moisture-regulating effect. They therefore create the moist environment that house dust mites love so much faster.
WASHING DOWN
For extra hygiene and to avoid allergies, it is best to have your down washed by us every 7 years. We then separate the down from the cover for a wet wash. In this way all germs are killed and you can sleep peacefully again for years, house dust mite free.
Zo worden alle kiemen gedood en kan je weer jaren gerust, huisstofmijtvrij slapen.
